As you can see I haven’t posted here in quite some time. This is my busiest wedding season and I’m working on getting photos out soon. Here goes my attempt at trying to put more of what I’m doing on the internet.
When Toni and Matt told me that they were gunna have 4 kegs and that I should bring a tent, my girlfriend and a sleeping bag I knew this wedding was going to be a recipe for awesomeness. Allison and I ran into some issues getting there, resulting in me finally deciding to kick the bucket on my 1996 Honda Civic and pick up a Scion xB (I’ll post pix later). We arrived the night before, set up camp, and stayed for two nights. The wedding day was quite a unique one for me. The wedding ceremony was shorter than normal which packed a whole lot of time for partying at the reception. It was clear from the get-go that Toni and Matt both just wanted their guests to have a great time and wanted their pictures to reflect that. I went more along...

One of the most awesome things for me is when I get to work with clients more than once. Carmen’s mom, Shellynda is super nice and has sent me a lot of work recently. As far as this shoot I’ve been playing around more with my flash. It’s starting to become attached at my hip. My fav shots in this setting are the shots of Carmen in the wheat field at sunset. It looks totally epic and I think we both had a total blast doing this.

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. Deuteronomy 5:11
Right now you’re probably thinking, “This should be an easy devotional—I don’t blaspheme…” (except when I say, “Oh my God!” – but he knows I mean that in a nice way – or when I get the bajeebies scared out of me and I say, “Sweet Jesus!”). So I am not misusing God’s name in my work… but I will read on to see what the other people are doing.
We have an increasing number of people who claim to have God in their business. Their mission statements even start with “To glorify God through my business…” Some have Christian literature in their lobbies, crosses in the board rooms and fish on their business cards. Others have company prayer meetings, voluntary of course. Others collect prayer requests from customers and genuinely pray for them. Still others have...

The World Concern “Free Them” 5k Run was held at the CRISTA campus in Shoreline/Seattle today (May 1st). The “Free Them” run was started to raise money to help put an end to human trafficking… such a wretched thing! If ever there was a cause to fight for it is human trafficking. Just watch the movie “Taken” with Liam Neeson and it will get you fired up about the issue. Ending human trafficking is a cause everyone can and should stand behind – speaking plainly. I originally was just going to take photos of my old college roomie, Joseph Lee, but when he took me on a tour of World Concern and I got to meet all of his coworkers they seemed like they would be interested in photos of the event. Of course I was obliged for such an awesome cause (if you haven’t caught my drift yet) so I woke up quite early to snap the following shots:
Oh and by the way… I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here but I’m living in Seattle...

I love a good group of animated people and that is exactly what the Jake and Katie wedding was like. Jake and Katie as well as the whole bridal party met doing theater together and let me tell you, their attitudes (especially the bridesmaids) was nothing short of ‘theatrical’. When a wedding photographer (or at least one such as myself) meets with the bridal party it’s a slam dunk wedding when you see “bitchin’ bridesmaids” on their tank top, or see them offering me a champagne out of a coffee mug. The wedding was on a Friday at the Hilton in Downtown Portland off of Broadway street right next to the Pioneer Courthouse Square. This was my first wedding in DT Portland and I have to say that I’m a big fan of city weddings. I still have a ton of photos and videos to get through but have a look at a quick preview:

Todd, Ashley, Marley and Me had a fun time on Marley’s first photoshoot. She did surprisingly well. All this talk of “terrible twos” that i’ve been hearing maybe just hype. Marley did great and even had a few wardrobe changes after about 3 locations.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. Psalm 130:5
Do not let the second part of the verse wipe out the first part of the verse. Many Westerners, or those prone to thought over experience, will treat the first part of this verse as a poetic statement, and quickly jump to the second part of the verse, “in his word I put my hope.” We see the latter as the action part, something we can do. We like the verse that says “love the Lord with all your mind” because we think we know how to think. But engaging our mind in thought before we have put our soul to work waiting can be futile. It is like putting a car in gear without first starting the engine.
Truth be told, we know very little about what it means to have our soul wait on God. We rush into things head first. Yet the psalmist says, “I wait for the Lord…” Somewhere in the depths of our being where our emotions and our will and our core being come together, we are to wait.
Have...

I’ve been meeting with Amanda and her mom, Donna for quite some time now. We’ve been going over wedding preparations, scheduling, photographs, everything. I remember saying, plan for extra time because unexpected things will always come up – they always do. That’s exactly what happened yesterday. The makeup appointment was mis-scheduled by the beautician and they were stuck in Portland traffic which led to 1.5 hours behind schedule. Needless to say I was getting a bit nervous but luckily we had a lot of extra time planned in to everything. Let that be a lesson to anyone planning a wedding! Anyways, working with Amanda, Seth, and the whole crew was a blast. The guys were awesome, I heard about 5 “that’s what she said” jokes, a lot of them seemed to know my brother, Jason, and they all seemed pretty down to earth. The ladies rocked and gave me kudos for knowing to smile with the eyes (thanks Tyra Banks). Once they made...

Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever! Deuteronomy 5:29
We read this and our mind’s eye moves to the target audience for this verse: proud parents who have a few kids, who attend church regularly, and who want the ideal life for their family. Surely they are the ones to whom these words would easily appeal… “so that it might go well with them and their children forever!” These are the same people who would buy life insurance, plan ahead, seek the best for their children educationally, socially and financially.
There is nothing wrong with these things, but that is not the context of this verse. Too often we take something that God intended for national application and we shrink it to personal proportions. We shrink the teaching about national economics to be personal finance principles. We shrink laws about education and apply them to Sunday School. We...

With so many pictures of other people on my blog, I thought it would be time for you guys to see some more of me. After all, that is what the world needs right… joking. Anyways, I thought I’d take a more personal note to this blog post for a number of reasons, but mostly because I’d like to talk (brag) about how awesome my girlfriend, Allison is. Here are some little known facts about Allison and myself:
We enjoy nachos 100% of the time. We even reserved two domain names (www.deleriouslyfull.com and nachobuzz.com) to blog about our affinity for nachos. You’ll see we have yet to actually post anything there. Our goal is to eventually get free nachos from restaurants in order to review them.
Allison has a funny thing about arm spasms. Sometimes she likes them and says things like “my arm is spasming again… that’s my workout for the day”. Other times she wants to destroy her arm because it bugs the crap out of her. My...

During the blistering winter storms along the east coast, the left coast was filled with sunlight and warmth. I was watching my twitter feed (@Onephotonerd) when @DaleChumbley chimes in with the idea to go on a photowalk. Here are some of the shots from our photowalk:

Yes, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted on my blog. Today (as beautiful out as it may be) has been a day of updating. I’ve been getting my blog layout super-simplified. Before it was a bit too difficult to find certain things. Now I’m hoping the layout will be easy for everyone to navigate. This isn’t permanent, but nothing ever really is with an artist is it? So I’ve decided to post a few shots from a concert I attended a while ago. Playing at this benefit show was The Neverclaim and Addison Road. I really dug Addison road a lot… And so did the 15 year-old boy who was assisting me. In fact, I’m pretty sure his heart dropped when he found out that the lead singer was married.
